The Working Orders table displays manual orders, i.e. orders which you enter directly using the Order Ticket or the Trading Pad (see The Trading Pad), along with orders that are generated by automated strategies, if these are a part of your portfolio. All orders in the Working Orders table can be modified, i.e. their price and the number of lots can be changed (see note immediately below). You can also modify orders from the Trading Pad - see Modifying Orders from the Trading Pad.
NOTE: For orders generated by automated strategies, the number of lots cannot be modified.
To modify the price or the number of lots of an order:
- In the Working Orders table, select the order you wish to modify.
- At the top of the Working Orders table, click Modify. The Order Ticket dialog appears.
- In the Order Ticket, select the new price and set the number of lots as needed.
- Click Buy or Sell. The new price and/or number of lots now appear for this order in the Working Orders table.
OR
- In the Working Orders table, click the Price column for the selected order. A drop-down menu appears.
- Select the new price. An Order Ticket appears. If you wish, change the number of lots as well.
- Click Buy or Sell. The new price and/or number of lots now appear for this order in the Working Orders table.
NOTE: When you modify bracket orders, the modification will work as follows: If you change the number of lots for one of the OCO orders (i.e. the Profit Target), and there is a partial fill of that order, then the number of lots for the opposite order (i.e. the Stop Loss order) is changed as well, so that both orders have the same number of lots.
- To place the order, click the Buy (or Sell) button on the bottom of the screen. A Confirm dialog box appears. (If you do not want to show this dialog box, see Confirming Trades).
- In the Confirm dialog box, click Yes to place order. The order appears in the Working Orders table and on the chart.
WARNING: if you wish to place a single simple order, make sure the Exit Strategies pane is closed, or None is chosen as an Exit Style, or Detach checkbox in the Exit Strategies pane is checked!
